We seek to teach our members the skills needed for investing and to develop them into outstanding professionals in different fields of business and finance.
BVI is the premier student finance organization at UCLA - we are the first and oldest group at UCLA that allows members to manage a real-money portfolio. We pride ourselves in being a diverse and intelligent group of people who come together to learn about value-creation in businesses and investing in these opportunities.
Our Bruin Investment Fund exist as an open-end fund. Adopting a value-investing approach, our members rotate in different industry groups to seek out investment opportunities within each space. We meet every Wednesday to discuss about the market and have a stock pitch where teams present their findings on a selected investment idea.
We generally take on a contrarian approach and focus on undervalued companies using fundamental analysis rather than technical analysis.
We have rigorous training sessions and mentorship programs to equip members with the skills and network to succeed in different industries.
The result is that our members move on to pursue careers in some of the best companies in the world, including but not limited to investment banking, private equity, consulting and investment management. Some companies include Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Bain, BCG, just to name a few. For more information, please see where we've gone.
Most campus organizations end with college, but not us. Our goal is to build friendships and networks that would last a lifetime. We pride ourselves for having an inclusive, friendly culture that encourages learning and interaction. Outside of meetings, we have retreats, socials and dinners to build strong relationships between Alumni and current members.
We also believe in the importance of diversity, thus we constantly seek to recruit members from different backgrounds. This provides us with a more holistic perspective in the organization.
